How to Retrieve Dell BIOS Default Settings Quickly and Effectively

What is BIOS?

BIOS is Basic Input-Output System of micro-computer. When we want to start Dell computer, the computer always boot it first and then access Windows operational system. Sometimes, we make changes on BIOS settings carelessly and want to retrieve BIOS default settings. Is there any quick way to do that?
Now the below will introduce how to retrieve Dell BIOS settings quickly and effectively for different kinds of Dell computer.

1. Optiplex Series Desktops:


How to enter BIOS?
  • Start Dell computer.
  • Press F2 to enter BIOS when you see Dell icon.

Retrieve BIOS Default Settings:
1. Press Caps Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock to open their led respectively.
2. Press the below three key groups
Alt + E:  Clear interrupts to distribute again when boot next time. You will hear a sound “Bi” after you finish pressing the key group.
Alt + F: Restore to factory settings. Also you can hear the same sound “Bi”.
Alt + B: Restart Dell computer.


2. Dimension Series Desktops:


How to enter BIOS settings screen?
  • Start Dell computer.
  • Press F2 to enter BIOS when you see Dell icon.

Retrieve BIOS Default Settings:
1. Press Caps Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock to open their led respectively.
2. Press the below three key groups
Alt + E:  Clear interrupts to distribute again when boot next time. You will hear a sound “Bi” after you finish pressing the key group.
Alt + F: Restore to factory settings. Also you can hear the same sound “Bi”.
Alt + B: Restart Dell computer.
Or set “Reset Config Data” on BIOS screen.


3. Latitude Series Laptops:


How to enter BIOS settings screen?
  • Start Dell computer.
  • Press F2 to enter BIOS when you see Dell icon.

Retrieve BIOS Default Settings:
For Latitude C, CP and CS series system, after you enter BIOS settings screen, press “Alt + F” to retrieve CMOS default settings. There will be a sound “Bi” after you press this key group.
For L series system, reboot computer and press “F2” to enter BIOS, and then press “F9” can retrieve CMOS default settings.


4. Inspiron Series Laptops:


How to enter BIOS settings?
  • Start Dell computer.
  • Press F2 to enter BIOS when you see Dell icon.

How to retrieve BIOS default settings?
Press “Alt + F” can retrieve CMOS default settings. A sound “Bi” will be heared after you press these keys.
For other some different BIOS versions, you can restore CMOD original settings through pressing “F9”.

Other boot tips:
  • For Dim4300, Dim8100, Dim8200, GX50, GX240, GX150, GX400, press "Ctrl+Alt+F8".  Startup Sequence Prompt Menu will appear. You can choose boot sequence in this menu.
  • There is a new function provided in new BIOS. It is that press F12 can enter boot menu quickly. In this menu, you can switch first boot device.
