How to Create, Delete or Format Disk Partition in Windows 8

Do we still have to create, delete or format disk partition with third-party software in Windows 8 computer? No, with Windows 8 Disk Management, partition disk or format disk partition won’t be a problem.

So now just follows the below introduction to go on.

1. After you have successfully access Windows 8, move the mouse to the bottom right side of screen. Choose “Settings” in the pop-up menu.

2. Select “Control Panel” in the pop-up menu. Open Control Panel.

3. Click “System and Security”.

4. Choose “Create and format hard disk partitions”.

5. Open Disk Management, and right-click to choose “New Simple Volume” in the blank space of Disk Management window.

6. “New Simple Volume Wizard” opens, click Next button.

7. Enter the amount of space of new partition.

8. Choose drive letter or paths.

9. Choose whether you want to format disk partition.

10. Click “Finish” button to make sure new partition is created successfully.

11. Right-click partition and choose format.

12. Formatting window is open, set file system parameters for partition you want to format. Click “OK” to go on.

13. A prompting message pops up, click “OK” and format partition.

14. Right click the partition you are ready to delete, and select “Delete Volume”.

15. A pop-up message prompts you in window, click “OK” to delete partition.

How to Change Administrator Password Windows 8/7 without Knowing It

While you don't know Windows 8/7 administrator password, how to change it? Following methods would make efforts on Windows 8 PC/laptop/tablet and Windows 7 PC/laptop. So if you couldn't find ways by yourself, please refer to introduction below.

1. Change Windows Administrator Password with Command Prompt

<1> Login into Windows 7 with another administrator first.

<2> Click "Start" and run "cmd.exe".
<3> Type in "net user" command to see all the user accounts set on your Windows 7 computer.

Now you can choose to change password for which administrator and other user accounts.

Type <net user> <user name><user new password>, and press Enter.

For example, you want to change password for administrator iSunshare. The command likes this: net user iSunshare 12345

Note: If you want to run Command Prompt in Windows 8, just press Win + X after you enter Windows 8 computer with administrator.

2. Change Administrator Password in Windows Control Panel

Control Panel is system control center set in computer default with basic Windows operational system settings. No matter which Windows system your computer is installed with, it is always available for you to manage Windows system and change Windows system settings. Now take Windows 8 as example.

Switch to Metro UI, select Control Panel and click it to open.
Now in the Control Panel, navigate to "User Accounts and Family Safety" and click on "Change your Windows password".
Now click on "make changes to my accounts in PC settings"
Click on "Change Your Password":

It will ask for current password, so enter it. After that, only you can change current user password.
Type New Password and then click save to change Windows 8 password.

Note: Change administrator password in Windows 7 is similar to change password in Windows 8.

Control Panel – User Accounts and Family Safety – User Accounts – Manage another accounts, and then choose the administrator you want to change password. Type new password for administrator twice and click “Change password” button.

3. Change Windows 8/7 Administrator Password with Tool

Without administrator available, third-party password recovery tool would help you to change Windows 8/7 admin password without any loss or damage.

3-1 Prepare bootable USB flash disk and computer to burn a password reset disk with tool, Windows Password Genius.

3-2 Plug reset disk into Windows 8 or 7 computers. Set computer boot from USB in order to run Windows password recovery program in locked computer.

3-3 Choose Windows system what computer is installed, and select administrator account, and then click "Reset Password".

Click “Next” and “Finish” to make sure Windows forgotten password reset. Similarly, password reset disk finds a new password for administrator on Win 8 computer.

At last, when you don't have the above logon way or password reset disk, choose Windows password recovery tool, such as Windows Password Genius, to recover, reset or remove Windows 8 forgotten password.

1. Supervisor password

Supervisor password is the password of administrator in CMOS setting program.

After you set supervisor password, if computer user want to access CMOS setting program and change its parameters, supervisor password is necessary to type in. And before you enter Windows operational system, you have to input supervisor password. Or if you have set user password, you can type in user password too.

2. User password

User password only could be set after you have set supervisor password. Once you have set supervisor password, and user password only could be used to access Windows operational system. Even though you can enter CMOS setting program and change CMOS parameters, modify or clear user password, administrator password couldn’t be changed.

3. Windows open password

Please note that, Windows open password couldn’t be set the same as supervisor password. Otherwise, after you cancel supervisor password, Windows system still requires you to type in open password. And the previous password you type in couldn’t be accessible too.

4. Hard disk password

Hard disk password is set to protect data stored on hard disk from being used after laptop is stolen. After you set hard disk password, supervisor password would become available too. If you don’t type supervisor password, you wouldn’t read hard disk. Even though you remove hard disk into another laptop computer, hard disk password still exists.

Hard disk password seems to be safe. But it is not recommended to use, because once your mainboard is destroyed or your laptop couldn’t boot because of any reasons, data on hard disk will lose.

In a word, though password has helped us more in data security, password has to be not set easily, because CMOS password set on laptop couldn’t be cleared by removing battery like desktops. And password on laptop CMOS is stored in logical circuits on mainboard, which can’t be recovered generally. So we don’t think that CMOS password set on laptop can achieve the highest encryption effect. To my point of view, supervisor password and user password can be set, but other kinds of password had better not be set easily. If you have to set it, please remember it.
